Bas van der Poel

Bas van der Poel is a photographer from Voorburg with a deep fascination for the aesthetics of decay.

In his work, he captures abandoned and often hidden locations before they disappear through demolition, renovation, or time.

His images showcase the quiet beauty of natural decay in places such as hospitals, castles, manor houses, and industrial buildings.

He works exclusively with natural light and applies a refined HDR technique to convey the atmosphere and experience of the moment as authentically as possible.

Respect for location and history is central: he leaves everything untouched and takes nothing with him.

His method follows one clear rule: Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.
